Overview

Unlock your future in mathematics with Study Mind’s Mathematics Summer Career Camp. Spend a week inside university-level maths, from infinity and game theory to projective geometry, and put it to work in a real trading floor simulation. Abstract theory becomes something you can actually do, with mentors who make the ideas click.

Your first week covers higher-level maths and the infinity problem, Olympiad-level Euclidean and projective geometry, vector spaces and linear algebra, a trading floor simulation and game theory, then MAT, STEP and TMUA preparation with personal statement work on Friday. Two-week students add number theory, cryptography and topology, alongside more career and networking sessions.

Groups stay small, usually no more than 10, so mentors know how each student thinks. Mornings dig into a maths topic, and afternoons turn it into a workshop or industry visit, such as the London Academy of Trading. You’ll solve real problems in pairs rather than sit through lectures.

The centrepiece is the trading floor simulation at the London Academy of Trading, where you’ll apply the week’s vector spaces and game theory to market analysis and simulated trades alongside professional traders.

You’ll be led by Heston, a final-year Imperial student, alongside professional traders at the London Academy of Trading and Study Mind’s academic mentors. You’ll learn from mathematicians who have recently sat the same papers and admissions tests themselves, and from professionals who apply the subject at work.

By the end of the camp, you’ll be able to apply Euclidean and projective geometry to Olympiad-style problems, explain how game theory models decisions like the Prisoner’s Dilemma, use the number theory concepts behind cryptographic systems such as RSA, read a MAT, STEP or TMUA question with more confidence, and talk through a personal statement that reflects real mathematical thinking.

The Study Mind Mathematics Summer Career Camp leaves you with a working grasp of Olympiad geometry, game theory and cryptography, plus a trading floor simulation to talk about in personal statements and interviews.

Cost and Session Information

General Information

All of our programmes begin on a Monday and run for seven weeks. Students staying in our accommodation will check in on Sunday, the day before their programme starts. We advise all students to check into accommodation between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm to take advantage of dinner with their cohort and the evening activity.
