A two-week engineering preparation course for motivated students aged 14 to 17 🔧�*
Discover engineering in the heart of the City of London. This two-week programme is designed for students who are thinking about studying Engineering and want real preparation, hands-on experience and early insight into university-level STEM. You will learn the Maths and Physics behind engineering, explore different disciplines and take part in workshops, industry visits and team challenges.
This is not a sightseeing camp. It is serious early career preparation.
Students aged 14 to 17
Future civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical, aerospace, biomedical or environmental engineers
Motivated learners who enjoy solving problems and understanding how things work
Students with confident English (minimum B2 CEFR)
Course length: 2 weeks
Age: 14 to 17
English level: Minimum B2
Hours of learning: About 40 hours per week
Class size: Maximum 12 students
Location: City of London (5 minutes from the Tower of London)
Students explore core areas of engineering and discover how Maths and Physics apply to real-world problems. Learning includes:
Civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering foundations
Maths and Physics for engineering, including forces, motion, algebra and integration
Materials, structures, energy and systems
Practical workshops and hands-on technology sessions
Sustainable design and climate considerations
Industry visit to an engineering company
Visit to a top UK university
Talks from professionals working in the sector
Students leave with a stronger sense of direction and confidence in choosing their engineering pathway.
Students work in teams on a two-week engineering challenge:
Forming an engineering project team
Tackling a real design brief
Creating a prototype or concept
Presenting and defending their solution
This develops leadership, communication, planning, creative thinking and problem solving. It is excellent material for future interviews and personal statements.
Teaching takes place at a modern college in the City of London, surrounded by finance, technology, transport and infrastructure. Students learn in an area where engineering shapes everyday life.
