Course Description

The camp is an award-winning academic summer school that offers programs for students aged 13 to 15 in prestigious academic institutions. The goal of this program is to give academically rigorous content that expands participants' knowledge and love for their chosen field. The program also provides young varied and essential views into what it would be like to study at university through 40 hours of academic sessions over the two week. Individual work, referred to as the "Personal Project" in this curriculum, is required. This is usually an essay or a presentation given on the last day of the program. Participants will get comments on their work, which may be included the final assessment of the participant. The Engineering program's goal is to educate participants to the fundamentals of engineering and to emphasize the various paths that are open to those who want to study engineering in the future. Engineering is a wide, multidisciplinary topic that blends creativity with meticulous attention to detail, mathematical accuracy with creative ways of expressing oneself. Knowledge of this sector is highly valued in companies all around the world, and new possibilities emerge on a regular basis as technology advances thanks to the latest innovation.

Example Modules

  • **Industrial Revolutions: **Trace the history of Engineering across four industrial revolutions, exploring the breakthroughs that were made and the impact that these developments had on future engineers. Based on this context, you will discuss what the future of engineering could look like.
  • Telecommunication Engineering: You will explore the mechanisms behind the components of telephones and radios. Learn how Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work, as well as AM and FM radio systems. Armed with the theoretical principles, you'll then be challenged to create your own radio receiver.
  • **Control and Automation Engineering: **You will explore signals and systems before learning about proportional-integral-derivative control systems. Focus will then move to the ethics of AI with a "moral machine" simulation preceding a debate to test your research and oratory skills.
  • Engineering A Solution: Participants will be presented with a known problem and asked to work in pairs to create a solution based on the engineering principles that they have encountered. They will then present their idea and demonstrate a working prototype to their peers before facing questions.
