Course Description: Supreme Summer English Language Course at Canford School Campus in Wimborne Minster

Course Description

English Adventurers is a two-week programme for students at every stage of language learning, from A1 to C1. Lessons are interactive and practical, helping you build the skills you need to use English with confidence. You’ll work on grammar, vocabulary, speaking and writing in ways that connect directly to real communication.

Learning happens inside and outside the classroom. You’ll take part in discussions, roleplay, storytelling and collaborative projects that make language practice engaging and memorable. Excursions and fieldwork give you the chance to test your skills in authentic settings, turning the city into an extension of your classroom.

By the end of the course, you’ll notice real progress in fluency, accuracy and confidence. With guidance from experienced tutors, you’ll leave with a stronger command of English and the confidence to use it in academic settings, international exams, or everyday conversation.

School Information

Canford School, the 2018 'Independent Boarding School of the Year' and the 2019 'Tatler Public School of the Year,' hosts SBC Canford Summer School. Students have a genuine British boarding school experience thanks to the lovely surroundings and superb amenities. Students will enroll in an interesting academic program of their choosing. Every day, an engaging program of activities and events is organized outside of the classroom. At the school, two summer school programs are offered: a Junior course for children aged 8 to 11, and a Senior course for students aged 12 to 15.

Summer School Social Program

SBC Canford Summer School students participate in a varied and enjoyable multi-activity social program that includes a variety of exciting activities in the afternoons and evenings. Students can spend time with their new friends and participate in a variety of new and interesting activities as part of the social program.

Students will participate in a multi-activity program that includes football, arts & crafts, music, and swimming, among other activities. Every afternoon, students often have a choice of over ten different activities. There will also be a number of events for the entire school, such as discos, sports tournaments, and filmmaking.

Activities

During the two-week course, students will go on three excursions to famous UK tourist cities or destinations. Our dedicated team of staff accompany the students and have a series of activities planned for the students to ensure that they make the most from their trip. During their stay, all students will visit London at least once. Our excursion destinations this summer include Bournemouth Beach, Oxford, London, and Bath.

Accommodations

All students reside on-campus in specially designed student housing. Each student will have their own single room with access to a communal bathroom. Boys and girls have their own private common rooms and reside in different lodging complexes. Staff also live on-site to ensure that all students have access to support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Throughout the stay, all accommodations and facilities are cleaned on a regular basis to ensure the greatest level of hygiene. All students have access to a laundry service once a week.

Student Support & Welfare

SBC's top goal is the safety and well-being of all kids. Our Supreme Program is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children. During their time at SBC, students are housed on-site in safe and comfortable boarding homes. Their supportive staff, which includes committed and experienced welfare workers such as House Parents and Welfare Managers, is accessible 24 hours a day to assist students. All employees, volunteers, and contractors are expected to follow our extensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Procedures.

Before summer, our advisor will send an online placement test for your child(ren). Based on the test results, students will be placed in classrooms matching their English proficiency level, like Intermediate (B1) with peers at the same level, ensuring targeted and effective lessons from the start.
