Before summer, our advisor will send an online placement test for your child(ren). Based on the test results, students will be placed in classrooms matching their English proficiency level, like Intermediate (B1) with peers at the same level, ensuring targeted and effective lessons from the start.

ENGLISH PLUS ACTIVITIES
At Canford Summer School, our optional English Plus program allows students to choose a specialized course each week for an extra fee. This exciting option, totaling six hours weekly, lets students either explore new activities and classes or enhance their existing skills and interests. It replaces the standard Multi-Activity Program for two days each week, offering a tailored experience to enrich their summer learning.
The courses are:
- Adventure Sports (£275/week): Kayaking, paddleboarding, high ropes, laser tag, archery tag. Builds confidence and outdoor skills. All levels are accepted. Students should be comfortable in water-based activities – life vests are provided. For waterbased activities, students will need to bring swimwear, a towel, and suitable footwear to walk a short distance from changing rooms to the water, such as sandals or flip flops. All other equipment, including safety equipment, will be provided by the activity venue.
- Horse Riding (£275/week): Rides in New Forest National Park, suitable for beginners to advanced. Includes horse care lessons. Students will need to bring comfortable clothing that they do not mind getting dirty and is suitable for riding, as well as appropriate footwear, ideally with a small heel. All other equipment will be provided.
- Robotics (£150/week): Learn coding with Edison robot using Scratch and Python. Program robots for tasks like communication and robot battles. Suitable for beginners to advanced.
- Game Design (£150/week): Create video games using Bloxels software, including character and story animation. Students design their own playable game.
- Football (£150/week): Training, coaching, and matches led by UEFA Licensed coaches. Focus on skills like shooting, decision-making, and tactical awareness. All levels are accepted. Students need to bring comfortable exercise clothes such as shorts and t-shirt. Football boots are not essential, but may be brought if desired. All football training equipment will be provided.
- Ultimate Crafts (£150/week): Arts and crafts workshops like jesmonite pottery, hydro dipping, fashion upcycling, clay jewellery making. Students keep their creations. (Coming soon)
