Vacation English Plus is a fun, adventure-filled English language programme that allows teenagers to improve their English while experiencing everyday life in Africa’s leading city. Set in Cape Town, this programme places students in a multilingual, multicultural, real-world environment, where English is used naturally throughout the day — in class, during excursions, and in social situations.
The programme is ideal for students who want more than traditional classroom learning. Through interactive, experiential teaching, combined with a rich programme of cultural, historical, environmental, and social activities, students gain first-hand knowledge of South Africa while significantly improving their English communication skills.
***
The school is located in Sea Point, one of Cape Town’s oldest and most vibrant suburbs. Sea Point uniquely combines residential and business areas, making it lively yet secure. Its proximity to the beach, public swimming pools, and some of the city’s most sought-after residential and leisure areas makes it an ideal base for international students.
This location allows students to experience the city authentically while learning in an area known for safety, walkability, and access to Cape Town’s natural and cultural highlights.
***
English is taught through interactive, practical lessons led by qualified and experienced teachers. Classes are designed to be engaging, fun, and communication-focused, helping students build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Because of the nature of the language school:
Students aged 16 and over may be placed in classes with adult learners
This creates a realistic learning environment and broadens discussion
Students practise English as it is used in everyday social and professional contexts
Language learning continues beyond the classroom, with English used throughout activities, excursions, and social time.
***
Students are introduced to South Africa’s rich and complex history through:
Classroom interaction with teachers
Conversations with locals
Carefully selected excursions and museum visits
Possible visits include sites connected to South Africa’s political, social, and cultural past. These experiences help students gain a deeper understanding of the country while developing vocabulary and confidence discussing historical and social topics in English.
***
The programme highlights the importance of environment and sustainability in shaping tourism and daily life in South Africa. Students explore Cape Town’s natural beauty and biodiversity through visits and excursions that may include:
Mountain and coastal scenery
Wildlife and conservation-focused experiences
Botanical gardens and nature reserves
Alongside learning, students enjoy fun, social experiences — all in English — such as shopping, exploring the city, meals out, mini-golf, bowling, ice-skating, and games evenings at the school. These activities help students develop language fluency and social confidence in relaxed, real-world settings.

Each day is carefully structured to balance English learning, exploration, and social time, ensuring students stay engaged while building fluency and confidence.
Students arrive at school in Sea Point by 08:15 and begin the day with interactive English lessons. Sessions focus on communication, discussion, and practical language use, helping students apply English at their own level. For students aged 16+, learning alongside adult students creates an authentic, real-world classroom environment.
Students enjoy a supervised lunch, usually at the school. This is a relaxed opportunity to socialise, practise conversational English, and recharge.
Afternoons are dedicated to excursions and experiential learning. Depending on the day, students may visit iconic landmarks, explore museums, hike scenic routes, or take part in environmental and wildlife-focused outings. Across the two weeks, students take part in 10 half-day and two full-day excursions.
Evenings include dinner followed by organised social activities such as bowling, mini-golf, ice-skating, games evenings, or meals out. These relaxed settings allow students to practise English naturally while building friendships.
As accommodation is not included, students return to their own accommodation after the day’s programme, bringing a full day of learning and exploration to a close.

Vacation English Plus is more than an English course — it is a full cultural immersion experience. Students improve their English through real-life use, gain insight into South African history and environment, and build confidence through social interaction and adventure.
They return home with stronger language skills, global awareness, independence, and unforgettable memories from one of the world’s most inspiring cities.
