Royale Pre College Engineering and Technology Program for teens, ages 13-15, in Cambridge University, provides “Explore Engineering & Technology” course with a comprehensive introduction to the exciting career opportunities in engineering and technology.

Are You The One Who Will Allow Space Travel, or Cure a Disease, or Build Flying Cars?

Tomorrow’s world is full of unboxed surprises and progresses. Those who are into building solutions to common problems by using applications of advanced engineering technics are going to unlock what future holds for us.  In Royale Academic Summer Camp in Engineering and Technology, you will explore the fields of Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, and Aerospace engineering as you survey emerging technical applications from self-driving vehicles to space travel. After successfully completing your course, you’ll receive a graduation certificate, awarded at a memorable ceremony hosted for you and your parents on the final Friday of your summer school. We’ll also provide a detailed report card, highlighting all that you have achieved during your time with us, as well as some next steps for future success.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to stay, eat, and study on the grounds of one of the world's oldest institutions, Cambridge Summer School. Discover the city that has influenced so many brilliant brains, including Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking.  Climb the Great St Mary's Church tower at the Cambridge University for panoramic views of the city. Discover the 17th-century author John Milton's favorite gardens and the 1871 Gothic-revival All Saints Church.  All of this history and culture will be ideal to share with your new acquaintances from all around the world.

Course Description

In a truly international environment – over 170 nationalities, 20+ hours a week with maximum of 15 students per class, on “Explore Engineering and Technology” course you will:

  • Apply engineering principles to both everyday problems and future grand challenges.
  • Compare and contrast different engineering fields.
  • Strengthen your design, problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Improve your application of physics and mathematics to solving problems.
  • Practice being an engineer through design simulations and challenges.

Accommodation & Food

Most of our accommodation sites offer a mix of single and twin bedrooms, with some campuses having en-suite bedrooms available and others have shared bathroom facilities between a small group of same-sex students.  If you have a particular preference for a certain room type, you can make a request on booking, which may be granted subject to availability. If a particular room type is required for medical reasons, please contact our Admissions Team who will be able to check availability on different sites, depending on the course chosen. Sharing your room with fellow students is a great way of getting to know people and making friends. Meals are also included, served in the Hall.

Getting to Cambridge University

Transportation By Flight The following is a list of the most convenient airports for Cambridge. To choose a flight that meets your needs, we recommend looking online.

  • Stansted (45 minutes away)
  • Luton (1.5 hours away)
  • Heathrow (2.5 hours away)
  • Birmingham (3 hours away)
  • Gatwick (4 hours away)

By Train - Eurostar The Eurostar is a rail service that connects France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands to the United Kingdom. The Eurostar arrives at London's central St. Pancras International station. Oxford Royale Academy Airport Transfer Service A member of the Oxford Royale Academy staff will meet students with an Airport Transfer booking in the arrivals hall and ensure that they are connected with their taxi driver. The student will be driven directly to their lodging by the driver. When it's time to leave the program, students are picked up from their lodging and driven to the appropriate airport terminal. If the student is traveling as an unaccompanied minor, please notify the camp when booking your Airport Transfer and the camp will provide you with any further information you require.

Public Transport The information is valid at the time of writing, but you should always check with the public transportation operator for the most up-to-date service availability. You are also urged to reserve any public transportation in advance to verify that your preferred route is available.
