Our renowned summer school has been welcoming teenagers aged 13-17 from over 25 countries since 2006, offering a unique opportunity to enhance musical talents while gaining French fluency.

Programme Overview

This specialized program is designed for students with a background in music who want to immerse themselves in French while receiving expert musical instruction. Your child will learn and live French surrounded by an international community, supported by qualified educators and music professionals.

What Your Child Will Learn

• 🎯 Comprehensive French Language Skills: Develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing through 15 hours of intensive French instruction per week, focusing on grammar and phonetics.

• 🗣️ Fluency & Confidence: Engage in a truly immersive environment, building practical communication skills for real-world interactions.

• 🎹 Professional Music Training: Receive 15 hours of personalized music instruction and practice per week. Based on their instrument and level, students will be matched with appropriate instructors for private or group lessons.

• 🎵 Performance Opportunities: If enough students enroll, the conservatory will organize collective practices that may lead to performances during the summer.

How Your Child Will Learn

• 📚 Morning French Classes: Structured into 7 levels, from 8:30 am to 11:45 am, ensuring personalized language learning.

• 🎼 Afternoon Music Program: From 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, students will delve into music training, utilizing soundproof rooms for practice.

• 🤝 Supervised Immersion: Students are accompanied at all times during activities and excursions, ensuring safety and constant French practice.

• 📝 Pedagogical Report: Receive a final report detailing your child's language progress and musical achievements.

Daily Schedule (Monday to Friday)

Here’s a typical day at the camp, ensuring a balanced blend of academics and creative pursuits:

• 8:30 am: Arrive at Collège Mérici

• 8:30 am – 11:45 am: French Class

• 11:45 am – 12:30 pm: Lunch

• 12:30 pm: Transport to the Music Center

• 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Music Training

• 4:00 pm: Return to Collège Mérici

• 4:30 pm: Transport to accommodation

• Evenings: Activities in residence / Time with host family

Location & Accommodation

The program is based at the Collège Mérici Campus in downtown Quebec City, putting students at the heart of the action.

• 🏠 Student Residence: All participants will stay at Laval University residences, located just 15 minutes by bus from the school. Residences are fully furnished with Wi-Fi, and rooms are shared with another international student from the program, fostering friendships. Common areas are shared with other Edu-inter summer program students. Residence students are always accompanied by our camp counselors.

Full-board dining is included for all students staying in the residence:

Activities & Excursions

Beyond the classroom and practice rooms, the summer comes alive with a vibrant schedule of activities designed for full French immersion and fun!

• 🌃 Evening Activities:

• Students living in residence enjoy organized activities every evening from Monday to Friday.

• Students living with host families participate in organized activities one evening per 2 weeks together with students living in residence.

• On the remaining evenings, students in host families are free to enjoy the city on their own (with a curfew) or spend time with their host family.

• 🏞️ Weekend Adventures: All weekend excursions are included in the program cost, exploring cultural landmarks and destinations. Please consult our activities calendar for details on organized activities and excursions.

• 🚌 Transport Included: All transportation between the school, residence/host family, and activity sites is provided, ensuring convenience and safety.

Requirements

To ensure the best experience for all participants:

• Age: Students must be 10-17 years of age at the start of the program.

• Musical Instrument: Students must bring their own instrument, if possible. (Some instruments can be rented on-site).

• Travel Documents: Foreign students must meet Canadian visa requirements and have travel and health insurance for the duration of the program.
