Course Description

Rassias Method® Immersion

  • Mornings: Dive into engaging Rassias Method drills focusing on pronunciation, intonation, and rapid response to reinforce persuasive language structures. Participate in role plays simulating real-life scenarios such as debates, business negotiations, and political campaigns.

  • Afternoons: Engage in group discussions and debates on current and culturally relevant topics, allowing you to practice constructing and defending viewpoints. Participate in interactive storytelling exercises to create and present persuasive narratives.

Hands-on Activities

  • Listening and Analysis: Analyze authentic Spanish media, including speeches and advertisements, with guided discussions and critiques of persuasive strategies.

  • Peer Feedback and Self-Reflection: Participate in structured feedback sessions to improve your persuasive communication skills.

  • Cultural Workshops: Explore cultural conventions in persuasion across various Spanish-speaking countries.

An interest in enhancing your foreign language skills is essential for success in this program. Applicants should have a recommended GPA of 3.5 or above in relevant fields and must complete the Summer Institute application, including thoughtful short-answer responses.

🛂 Visa Requirements for International Students

🌎 Students NOT in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program

If your home country is not one of the 40 countries in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, you will need a B-2 Visitor Visa to attend the program.

The B-2 visa is for tourism and short-term study (under 16–18 hours of classes per week).

After enrollment, you will receive a Letter of Introduction to help support your visa application.

Students whose primary residence is outside the United States will be charged an International Registration Fee when attending a U.S.-based program.

  • Not guaranteed, though campus staff make every effort
