From cosmopolitan Madrid and Barcelona to the charm of Granada, Seville, Toledo and Alicante, this Spain adventure is designed for curious, social teens who love culture, sun, and exploring something new every day. You’ll wander ancient streets, see world-famous sites like Sagrada Familia and the Alhambra, learn to cook Spanish tapas, and snorkel in a Mediterranean marine reserve. Traveling in a smaller group means you can occasionally step off the main tourist path to discover authentic neighborhoods, cafés, and local experiences together.

Itinerary �*

Day 1 – Flight to Barcelona, Spain

Fly overnight to Barcelona. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your leaders, get to know your group, and start orientation with fun icebreakers and “get to know you” activities.

Days 2–6 – Barcelona, Spain 🇪�*

Start your adventure in Spain’s Mediterranean jewel. Experience Catalan culture as you stroll through Plaza Catalunya, Plaza de España, and along the Gran Via. Explore Gaudí’s iconic works, including Park Güell and the soaring Sagrada Familia. Visit the FC Barcelona stadium and fan showcase, walk along Las Ramblas to the harborfront, and savor tapas in the Gothic Quarter. Enjoy an evening at an authentic Spanish cooking school where you’ll prepare your own dishes, then relax and swim at Barceloneta Beach.

Days 7–8 – Alicante, Costa Dorada, Spain

Head to the coast to enjoy the beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Sail out to Tabarca Island and snorkel in the protected marine reserve, discovering crystal-clear waters and local marine life.

Days 9–10 – Granada, Spain

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Granada is rich with history and beauty. Take a guided tour of the Alhambra, a stunning 12th-century Moorish palace and fortress. Visit the Cathedral and Royal Chapel, where Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand are buried. Wander the narrow streets of the Albaicín, visit gypsy caves, or relax with a café con leche in Plaza Nueva.

Days 11–13 – Seville, Spain

Discover Seville, the “city of towers” and heart of flamenco and bullfighting culture. Visit Parque de María Luisa and the charming Barrio Santa Cruz. Take a flamenco dance class to experience this passionate art form firsthand, and visit the famous Las Setas viewing point for panoramic city views.

Days 14–16 – Madrid, Spain

Madrid dazzles with its lively streets and grand architecture. Stroll along the Gran Via, tour the Royal Palace, and explore Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol by day and night. Row boats in Retiro Park and admire masterpieces by Velázquez and Goya at the Prado Museum. Take a day trip to ancient Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage city, to explore its winding medieval streets and layered history.

Day 17 – Return Flight Home From Madrid

Say goodbye to your friends and trip leaders, then fly home with unforgettable memories from your Spanish summer.

Program Specifics ✈️

Flight to Barcelona, Spain:

Participants may join a chaperoned group flight departing in the evening from the New York area. Leaders greet students at the airport and stay with them from check-in onward. Travelers from outside New York may connect into the chaperoned flight or meet the group directly in Barcelona, with staff support in coordinating flight times and arrivals.

Return Flight From Madrid, Spain (17-day program):

For the 17-day program, leaders assist with check-in in Madrid and remain at the airport until all flights within designated times have departed. Leaders then continue in Europe for the remainder of the 28-day Spain & Portugal program. If enough students are returning after 17 days, one staff member may also chaperone that flight home.

Meals & New Cuisines 🍽️

Breakfasts are served buffet-style at the hotels with a variety of options. Dinners are enjoyed together either as one large group or in smaller, student-selected groups. For lunch, teens eat in small groups at local cafés, bistros, and restaurants. Expect to try tapas in Barcelona, paella in Seville, churros in Madrid, and many other Spanish favorites. The program works hard to accommodate dietary needs including vegetarian, allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher-style requests.

Laundry �*

You’ll only need about one week’s worth of clothing. Once a week, students can drop off laundry at a local wash-and-fold service and pick it up clean and folded, ready for the next stretch of the journey.
