Soak up the Italian sun during a relaxing day at the beach in Cinque Terre. Glide across the sparkling Mediterranean Sea on a thrilling tubing adventure in idyllic Nice. Dive into the vibrant culture of Spain with a night of hands-on cooking, where you’ll create (and savor!) mouth-watering paella and tapas. Enjoy Barceloneta Beach with your new friends and marvel at Gaudí’s Sagrada Família in Barcelona. This small-group adventure allows teens to have some flexibility and spontaneity along the way during this exciting Riviera adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Flight to Milan, Italy

Fly overnight to Milan. Once you land, your orientation will officially begin with some interactive icebreakers and “get to know you” activities.

Day 2 — Milan, Italy

Make your grand entrance into Milan, the heartbeat of Italian style and culture. Marvel at the breathtaking Duomo, one of Italy’s most iconic landmarks, and climb to its rooftop for incredible views of the city skyline.

Days 3–5 — Italian Riviera (Cinque Terre and Portofino)

Enjoy some chill time in these quaint fishing villages of the Cinque Terre. Part of the Italian Riviera, these five small, classic Italian towns are built into the cliffs and rise from the sea and look much like they did when they were first settled in the 17th century. Hike from village to village stopping for amazing coastal views and irresistible pesto (this is where it was born!). Soak up the Italian sun during a relaxing day at the beach, and chill with a night of group activities and bonding overlooking the Mediterranean. Take a Ferry to Portofino. Soak up the Italian sun, kayak and paddle board at Niasca Beach.

Days 6–8 — French Riviera (Nice and Monte Carlo)

Breathe the fresh seaside air as you arrive in the French Riviera. Take in the coastal view of the city atop Castle Hill viewpoint. Craving some adventure? Hop on a boat for an exhilarating tubing ride in the Bay of Angels and laugh with your friends as you’re splashed by the waves! Cross into glamorous Monte Carlo in nearby Monaco to spend a day at the beach near its iconic harbor and luxurious surroundings. In the evenings, wander through Nice’s Old Town and night market, and savor the uniquely rich flavors of French cuisine!

Days 9–11 — Spanish Riviera (Barcelona)

After tasting a variety of Spanish Tapas, tour the mystical Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Discover the incredible architecture and fascinating history on a guided bike tour and marvel at Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece, Sagrada Família. Enjoy lunch at La Boqueria Market near the iconic boulevard of Las Ramblas. Relax with your new friends in the sun at Barceloneta Beach, and then sharpen your culinary skills during a hands-on Spanish cooking class where you'll prepare and savor authentic paella and tapas.

Day 12 — Return Flight Home from Barcelona

Say farewell to your new friends as you part ways for your return home. The summer might be over, but all the memories you’ve made will last a lifetime!

You will be staying in the beautiful city of Milan at Starhotels Ritz Milano. This hotel is conveniently located near all the major Milan attractions.

Cinque Terre, Italy

In Cinque Terre, we stay at CDH Hotel. Enjoy this ideal location in the city center of La Spezia just minutes away from the Harbor.

Nice, France

Enjoy summer fun in the breathtaking seaside city of Nice. Staying at Hotel Byakko, you will rest well after enjoying the beach and sea.

Barcelona, Spain

After spending your days experiencing everything that Barcelona has to offer, enjoy your stay at the ibis Plaza Glòries 22 or the Social Hub Poblenou.

Program Specifics

Flight To Milan, Italy

Participants on this trip have the option to fly overseas on our chaperoned flight that leaves in the evening from the New York area to Milan. Our leaders greet you at the airport and are with you from check-in onward. For the many travelers from outside the New York area, you can choose to join the chaperoned flight and we are happy to assist you with arranging connecting flights at suitable times into New York. You may also choose to meet us in Milan and we will help coordinate your flight times and greet you upon arrival.

Internal Flight

Separate from the airfare to and from this program, there is an additional $325 USD fee for an internal flight from Nice, France to Barcelona, Spain.

Return Flight Home From Barcelona, Spain

For your return from Barcelona, we offer a chaperoned flight to New York. For travelers from other areas, you may choose to join that flight and arrange transfers at suitable times from New York after the group has cleared customs and immigration in the USA; or you may fly from Barcelona to your home city and our leaders help you to check-in and remain in the airport until flights in designated times have departed.

About ON TOUR

This program features separate, age-compatible groupings, including ON TOUR departures for older teens currently completing 11th or 12th grade. These departures feature activities and sights tailored for the more mature student, while maintaining the structure parents expect. Opportunities to do some safe exploring in smaller groups to find that local café or boutique also make this a standout experience for older students.

Meals & New Cuisines

Breakfasts in Europe are eaten at our hotels and served buffet style with a variety of options. For dinners, either the whole group goes to the same restaurant or we divide into smaller groups of your choosing. For lunch, you will enjoy eating in smaller groups and choosing from local cafés, bistros and other restaurants. Are you ready to sample tapas in Spain, crispy baguettes in France, and the freshest pasta and pizza in Italy? The food in Europe is terrific, so get set to eat extremely well!

We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.

Laundry

You will only need one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. We either drop our laundry off at a local wash-and-fold service and then pick it up clean, folded, and ready to go, or we go to laundromats together to do our laundry. When using laundromats, we provide detergent and the laundry lesson for first-timers.

What’s Included

Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, recreation & entertainment listed, airport transfers at designated times, train and metro passes, public transport, and bus transfers, gratuities & taxes.

Not included is the application fee, transportation to and from the program, internal airfare, lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, laundry and the application fee. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
