Journey through New Zealand and Australia, experiencing a variety of unique activities like Zorbing, Whitewater Rafting down a waterfall, jet boating through slot canyons, SCUBA diving the Great Barrier Reef, and climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You’ll bond with your fellow participants in a small, tight-knit group, with leaders who create a welcoming family atmosphere from day one. From New Zealand’s dramatic landscapes to Australia’s incredible underwater world, each destination brings new experiences and opportunities to connect. This is no ordinary teen travel program; it’s a summer adventure you’ll never forget!

Teens on this trip participate in the first 20 days of the longer New Zealand, Australia & Fiji Adventure 27-day program.

Itinerary

Days 1–2 — Flight To Auckland, New Zealand

Start your program with an overnight flight across the International Date Line to Auckland. You'll lose a day here, but don't worry, you'll get it back at the end of the trip! Once you land, your orientation will officially begin with some of our favorite icebreakers and “get to know you” activities.

Days 3–5 — Rotorua, New Zealand

Upon arrival, you’ll experience the warm and friendly welcome of the people of New Zealand. Kiwis are known for their down-to-earth and humble nature, reflected in their respect for visitors, the environment, and the Māori community. Get psyched for your whitewater rafting adventure down the famous Kaituna River. With 13 major drops and a thrilling 22-foot descent over the largest commercially rafted waterfall in the world! Explore Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, where bubbling geysers showcase New Zealand’s geothermal wonders. Roll head over heels in a giant inflatable ball with an exhilarating zorbing adventure, the ultimate Kiwi invention, right where it all began. As day turns to night, immerse yourself in the magical Redwoods Nightlights, walking among towering trees illuminated by an enchanting canopy of lights. Round out your Rotorua experience with a memorable Māori cultural experience, discovering the traditions, stories, music, and hospitality of the indigenous people. Auckland Hike up Mt. Eden, and visit Auckland’s stunning waterfront. You’ll also have the chance to visit the All Blacks Experience, where you can test your rugby skills and experience the powerful Haka through an immersive and interactive experience.

Day 6 — Auckland, New Zealand

Along your way back to Auckland, step into an otherworldly underground wonder. New Zealand’s famous glowworm caves are truly breathtaking as you drift silently through the darkness, surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights that transform the cavern ceiling into a living night sky. This magical natural phenomenon creates an atmosphere that feels both serene and surreal, offering a once-in-a-lifetime moment of awe. Then, take a break from the adventure to return to city life in Auckland. Relax at your hotel and enjoy the facilities before a great meal and some city fun.

Days 7–9 — Queenstown, New Zealand

Get your adrenaline pumping in Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world! Discover the breathtaking beauty and adventure of Queenstown, a picturesque lakeside town surrounded by dramatic mountains. Take in stunning views as you hike The Basket of Dreams, then soar above the town on the Skyline Gondola before racing down the mountain on the thrilling Skyline Luge. Keep the adventure going with an exhilarating Shotover Jet ride, speeding through the spectacular Shotover River canyons and surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most incredible scenery.

Days 10–12 — Brisbane, Australia

Kangaroos? Check. Koalas? Check. No trip to Australia is complete without meeting its most iconic wildlife. Spend the day at the world-renowned Australia Zoo, founded by the late Steve Irwin, where you can observe koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, and countless other species. Along the way, you’ll learn about the zoo’s important conservation efforts and how they work to protect Australia’s unique wildlife. You’ll also get to discover the laid-back charm of Queensland’s capital as you wander the lively South Bank, check out local shops and cafes, and take in the riverfront views. With its perfect balance of wildlife adventure and city culture, Brisbane offers a snapshot of Australia’s wild heart and urban energy. Surfers Paradise, Australia Welcome to the Gold Coast, Australia’s playground of sun, surf, and endless fun! The golden beaches and rolling waves at Surfers Paradise set the tone for adventure. Learn to ride the waves with professional instructors. With its perfect mix of surf culture, seaside charm, and outdoor activities, Surfers Paradise delivers a true taste of Aussie beach life.

Days 13–16 — Cairns, Australia

Welcome to the gateway of the Great Barrier Reef! In Cairns, adventure and natural wonders go hand in hand. Kick things off with an adrenaline rush at a cable park, where you can try kneeboarding or wakeboarding on a specially designed lake. Then shift from thrills to awe as you join a local marine expert to learn about the reef before experiencing it firsthand. Dive beneath the surface to snorkel or SCUBA* among vibrant coral gardens, graceful sea turtles, and countless tropical fish in the world’s largest living structure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. With so much to discover above and below the water, Cairns delivers an unforgettable mix of thrills, wildlife, and natural beauty. (*For your safety, all SCUBA operators restrict participants with certain medical conditions. Please ask about your own circumstances if applicable). Kuranda Soar above one of the world’s oldest rainforests on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, gliding over lush treetops with stops along the way to discover cascading waterfalls and breathtaking rainforest views. Then, explore the unique mountain village of Kuranda, where you can wander vibrant markets, browse local crafts, and sample delicious eats. For the journey back, settle in for a scenic ride aboard the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, winding through the rainforest and past spectacular waterfalls and gorges.

Days 17–19 — Sydney, Australia

Your final stop in Australia is Sydney, a city that blends adventure, culture, and iconic scenery. Scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge for jaw-dropping harbour views, then take on the Wild Ropes Treetop Course for another elevated experience above the harbour. Back in the city, explore the stylish heart of Sydney along Pitt Street and the historic Queen Victoria Building, before stepping inside the world-famous Opera House on a guided tour. With adventure around every corner, Sydney delivers unforgettable experiences and is the perfect place to cap off your ultimate adventure Down Under.

Day 20 — Return Flight Home From Sydney, Australia

Say farewell to your new friends as you part ways for your return home. You'll be flying back over the International Date Line, so here's where you get your day back! The summer might be over, but all the memories you’ve made will last a lifetime!

Rotorua, New Zealand

Queenstown, New Zealand

Enjoy stunning rooftop panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, Opera House and Harbour Bridge while staying at the YHA Sydney Harbour. Close to all the major Sydney attractions, this is the perfect place for our groups to relax after exploring Sydney.

Flight to Auckland, New Zealand

We begin this program with a chaperoned flight from Los Angeles to Auckland. For those coming from the New York area, we have a chaperoned NY to LA flight to connect to the escorted overseas flight from LAX. For our participants from outside the New York area, our program leaders greet you at LAX airport and are with you for the duration of the flight to Australia. Because of the International Dateline, you will lose a day, but you’ll make it up on the return flight when you get the very cool opportunity to live part of the same day twice. For participants outside North America, please reach out to us to discuss your flight options.

Internal Flights

Separate from the airfare to and from this program, there is an additional $845 USD fee for internal flights from Auckland to Queenstown, Queenstown to Brisbane, Brisbane to Cairns, and Cairns to Sydney.

Return Flight Home from Sydney, Australia

We offer a chaperoned flight back to the USA through either San Francisco or Los Angeles, then onto New York. Final flight details are determined in the spring. For travelers from outside these cities, we will help you arrange transfers at suitable times after the group has cleared customs and immigration in the USA.

New Zealand and Australia Entry Regulations

Participants require a separate entry visa for both New Zealand and Australia. Both governments have strict entry requirements and without the proper travel authorizations, participants will not be permitted to travel. This requires the completion of an e-visa that must be purchased prior to departure from North America and must be presented upon check in for your flight. Information will be sent to all families approximately 6 weeks prior to departure.

Meals

Breakfasts and dinners are enjoyed at the properties we visit or out at restaurants. For lunch, you will have the opportunity to eat in smaller groups and to choose from different options in the various towns and cities you’ll be visiting. Those of you who are more adventurous can try the Aussie staple, vegemite! And of course everyone comes home loving Tim Tams!

We have satisfied the choosiest of eaters and gladly accommodate most special dietary requests including vegetarian, food allergies, lactose intolerance, celiac disease, and kosher style. We welcome discussing your individual requirements with you and have extensive experience in this area.

Laundry

You will only need one week’s worth of clothing as outlined in the packing list that will be sent to you prior to departure. Every week you may drop off your laundry at a local wash and fold service and then pick it up clean, folded and ready to go.

What's Included

Included in your program tuition is all lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, one lunch, recreation & entertainment listed, airport transfers in designated times, gratuities & taxes.

Not included is transportation to and from the program, cost of entry visas for both New Zealand and Australia, other lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, laundry and the application fee. We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.
