Discover how engineers shape the modern world on this Engineering Summer Career Camp in central London for students aged 15 to 18. You build and test cantilevers, work with a leading engineering consultancy on sustainable water systems, explore aerofoils and robotics, and spend a day among historic aircraft and racing cars at Brooklands Museum.
The programme is designed for students who want to explore the real-life applications of engineering, from designing new technologies to tackling global challenges in sustainability and infrastructure. Mentors who have studied engineering at leading UK universities guide you through the different fields and help you decide where your interests and strengths lie.
No previous experience is needed. The programme suits curious beginners as well as students already studying related subjects at school.
The camp takes place in central London, with sessions and visits across the city. Residential students stay at Ramsay Hall, part of the University College London (UCL) campus, and experience life as a university student in one of the world's great capitals.
Choose a 1, 2 or 3 week programme. Teaching is delivered through practical workshops, industry visits and sessions led by working professionals.
Engineering Skills
Cantilevers Workshop
Workshop with the engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald

Shadowing an aeronautical engineer
Three-week students finish with a Career and Life Skills week and professional networking, designed to strengthen university applications and build skills for life beyond school.
There are no more than 12 students in each programme group, so every student gets small group teaching, one-to-one mentoring and personalised feedback.
Sessions are led by engineers, industry professionals and STEM educators. Thomas C. holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, where he focused on low-carbon electricity generation and sustainable aviation. Eden H. is a First-Class MEng Civil Engineering graduate of University College London and now a Graduate Structural Engineer at Mott MacDonald. Inga P. studies Aerospace Engineering at the University of Liverpool. Judith C., an accredited UCAS adviser and former Head of English, Head of Creative Arts and Head of Sixth Form in Kent grammar schools, runs the UCAS and personal statement sessions.
