Watch a real trial at the Old Bailey, trace crime, punishment and policing across London, and learn from a working criminologist. This Criminology Summer Career Camp shows students aged 15 to 18 how the criminal justice system works and the careers that follow from it.
Each morning takes a theme, such as the origins of policing or confinement, and pairs it with the practitioner who lives it: probation officers, lawyers, researchers and police. Afternoons go out into London, so every idea gets tested somewhere real before the day ends.
No previous experience is needed. The programme suits curious beginners as well as students already studying related subjects at school.
The camp takes place in central London, with sessions and visits across the city. Residential students stay at Ramsay Hall, part of the University College London (UCL) campus, and experience life as a university student in one of the world's great capitals.
Choose a 1, 2 or 3 week programme. Teaching is delivered through practical workshops, industry visits and sessions led by working professionals.

For the second week, students can instead join a related career week, such as the Psychology or Law cohort, or choose the Career and Life Skills week.
Three-week students combine the criminology week with another related career week, then finish with a Career and Life Skills week and professional networking.
There are no more than 12 students in each programme group, so every student gets small group teaching, one-to-one mentoring and personalised feedback.
The programme is led by Professor Gary Armstrong, a highly respected criminologist from St George's, University of London, with decades of academic and professional experience in the study of crime, justice and social control. Students also meet professionals from the wider field, including lawyers, law enforcement officers and specialists in human trafficking. Judith C., an accredited UCAS adviser and former Head of English, Head of Creative Arts and Head of Sixth Form in Kent grammar schools, runs the UCAS and personal statement sessions.
