Excel for Kids: Creative Data & Games 2-Week Online Module

Turn spreadsheets into a playground for art, games, and logic. In this mentor-guided module, kids learn real Excel skills by building fun, hands-on projects—designing with colored cells, using formulas, and making simple data visuals.

What Students Learn

• Excel Basics: cells, rows, columns, formatting

• Formulas & Functions: SUM, AVERAGE, IF, COUNT through kid-friendly examples

• Data Visualization: colorful charts and graphs

• Conditional Formatting: color-based logic (e.g., emojis/stars)

• Creative Problem-Solving: projects that mix math, logic, and design

Week-by-Week

Week 1 — Fun with Cells & Colors

• Learn the interface, formatting, and basic math operations

• Turn cells into creative visuals using colors and emojis

• Shortcuts and design tricks to make spreadsheets engaging

  Mini-projects:

1. Pixel Art with Excel (colored-cell images)

2. Smart Calculator (formulas in action)

3. Emoji Scoreboard (rate favorites with stars/emojis)

   Mentor role: Encourage creativity and ensure each student completes at least two personalized mini-projects.

Week 2 — Excel as a Game & Data Tool

• Introduce IF, MAX, MIN, AVERAGE

• Make data fun with charts and simple interactivity

• Build logic-based mini games

  Mini-projects:

1. Lucky Number Game (random numbers + formulas)

2. Student Score Tracker (auto-grades + charts)

3. Mini Business Project (café/store sheet to calculate profits & losses)

   Mentor role: Live guidance, debugging help, and light competitions (e.g., “best chart”) to keep energy high.
