Course Description

Students at the Junior Summer School reside and study at Uppingham School, one of the finest and most distinguished boarding institutions in the United Kingdom. Uppingham features cutting-edge learning, sports, and leisure facilities, as well as a welcoming and safe environment in which to live and learn. Students may expect a friendly, inviting, and comfortable stay in world-class grounds and buildings.

Students in all of our programs are encouraged to learn about one another's cultures and histories, both in class and the many extracurricular activities. Many students form lifelong friendships while taking these summer classes, and many of them return year after year to catch up, explore new things, and most importantly, have fun. Participants also benefit from joint trips and activities with native and proficient English speakers, which improves their conversational abilities and confidence.

"Discover STEM," one of our most popular Junior Courses, offers interesting and engaging tasks that reinforce core STEM skills such as critical thinking, cooperation, problem solving, and research. This STEM-themed journey is designed to be entertaining while also providing safety and structure in a renowned boarding school setting that will boost social skills and develop core academic abilities. As you and your classmates race against the time to get out of the jungle, you'll learn how to conduct good experiments, assess your data, and report your findings.

The following are some of the things you will learn in this course:

  • Learn how to create and defend your own viewpoints.
  • Examine the connection between STEM principles and everyday living.
  • Discover more about forensic science, mechanical and structural engineering, physics, and biology.
  • As you collaborate with your peers to solve problems and build solutions, you'll improve your teamwork and critical thinking abilities.

We know you'll want to tell your family, friends, and instructors about your fantastic summer of exploration when you go home. We also recognize that you'll want to learn from your ORA teacher not just what you did exceptionally well on your course, but also where you may improve and learn more in the future.

You'll get a graduation certificate after successfully completing your course, which will be presented to you and your parents at a special ceremony on the last Friday of summer school. We'll also provide you a full report card that details all you've accomplished throughout your time with us, as well as some recommendations for future success.
