This program on Tufts University campus is calling for teens, ages 11-18, to have an incredible summer camp experience in Boston, the USA.

The course offers 15 hours of English classes per week, led by qualified teachers, with a maximum of 17 students per class. On the first day, students take a placement test to ensure they're in the appropriate level, which covers beginner to advanced. Additionally, the course provides age-appropriate materials, learning resources, and a certificate upon completion.

Welcome to Boston! Our centre is located on the beautiful campus of the prestigious Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts only 20 minutes from downtown historic Boston.

Activities

Activities and excursions are scheduled every afternoon and evening, with full-day excursions at the weekend. All activities are designed to continue the learning in a fun and enjoyable way, encouraging students to develop life skills and make new friends through sport, activities and socially interactive games. Activities Sports: With a choice of football, mini Olympics, rounders, table tennis, volleyball and basketball. Drama and performance activities, such as drama workshops and scavenger hunts. **Evening activities: **such as karaoke, talent show, and team games.

Meals

Meals served in a large self-service canteen in Dewick-McPhie Dining Hall.

Breakfast

Cooked and continental which might include pancakes, eggs, juice, coffee, toast, cereal, fruit.

Lunch

Two courses, 3 options including a vegetarian option.

Packed lunches (provided at weekend): water, fruit, sandwich, crisps and biscuits/cake.

Evening Meal

Three courses, 3 options including a vegetarian and halal option.

Snacks

Vending machines located in the residence buildings for drinks and confectionery.

Pocket Money

This very much depends on the age, school and interests of the student. Full-board and the lessons are provided, so they don’t necessarily need to bring any funds other than the damage deposit. However, it is recommended that the students bring some funds for optional excursions, souvenirs and/or refreshments.

Excursions

Our students get to explore exciting places in and around Boston such as: Harvard University, MIT University, the New England Aquarium and Massachusetts State House.

  • Newport, Rhode Island: Students visit this historic city by the sea with great shops, incredible mansions and colonial architecture
  • Scusset Beach: A nice sandy beach with crystal clear water
  • Charles River Walk: A fantastic view of the Boston skyline from the Charles River, with a visit to the Museum of Science
  • Faneuil Hall & Quincy Market: Students go shopping at this historic market place including a visit to downtown crossing and Chinatown.
  • Old and New Boston: A visit to the USS Constitution Ship and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
  • Fenway Park: The home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. Also includes a visit to Boston Public Library, Copley Square and the Prudential Building.
  • New York City: Known as the Big Apple, students can explore its iconic sights
  • Six Flags New England: Students get to hang out at this cool theme park with world-class roller coasters and over 100 rides.

Transportation

Individual students under 16years, using the transfer service shall travel with a school approved taxi from the centre to the airport terminal. They will not be escorted by a staff member during this part of the journey. On arrival at the airport they will be met and assisted through the departure process by an airport representative. For students not requiring a departure transfer, the school requires a Transfer Not Required form to be completed during the admissions process to clarify the exact details of the collection. Centre teams shall check the name and ID of the person nominated to collect the students.

Lesson Plan

The classroom is at the heart of your Boston Junior English Course. English Lessons are student-centred and encourage the development of relevant language skills.

  • Taught by friendly and professional English teachers
  • 20 x 45 minute lessons per week each morning
  • Placement test on day 1 to ensure students in appropriate level
  • Maximum 17 students per class
  • Students will be placed in an international class with students of different nationalities
  • Classrooms are standard style
  • Classrooms are located at Tufts University campus
