Course Description

This is a summer camp for students aged 13-16. It combines 28 lessons (21 hours) of general English teaching per week with a full programme of interesting activities and excursions. Our camp has been running since 2009, giving children and teenagers an opportunity to learn more about Cambridge University life. The camp is located at Lucy Cavendish, a Cambridge University college, with on-campus classrooms, facilities and residential accommodation. This is an ideal centre for our 13-16 year old students who are looking for a small campus course, in the centre of Cambridge, with a taste of university life and a very personal atmosphere. Only individuals or small groups of friends are allowed at this camp, so it is ideal for students travelling by themselves or with a friend.

Activities

This Cambridge University college campus offers very comfortable student accommodation. All students attending this programme live on campus.

Sir Laurence course residences:

  • Central campus accommodation in comfortable and secure buildings

  • The school staff living on-campus, providing 24-hour supervision

  • Shared bedrooms – usually 2 students of the same gender who do not speak the same language

  • Some single bedrooms also available

  • Shared bathroom and showers

  • All meals included

  • Free laundry facilities – you must do your own washing, but at no extra cost

  • A change of bed linen once per week

Students on the course live on campus in 3 residential buildings. The main residence has approximately 50 comfortable residential beds in good-sized modern rooms. These rooms are usually twins, with 4 students sharing bathrooms and showers. Other residences have twin and single rooms with shared bathrooms on corridors.

Meals:

All meals are provided in the large dining room at Lucy Cavendish, which is built in traditional Cambridge University style. There is a wide choice of hot and cold food and a vegetarian option for every meal. Please inform us if you have special dietary requirements. Packed lunches are provided on excursion days.

Pocket Money

We recommend that students bring around £80 per week for souvenirs, gifts, snacks and drinks etc.

At residential camps for younger students, we strongly recommend that money is given to the ‘the school bank’, where we will keep it safe. Students will be able to obtain their money from the ‘the school bank’ at regular intervals.
