Location

The program will be held at the New York Institute of Finance (NYIF).

Accommodation will be at M Social Hotel Times Square located in the heart of Manhattan. This modern hotel is a private oasis above the electricity of Times Square and within walking distance to many NYC highlights.

Transportation

  • We transfer you to the accommodations with no added fee as long as you arrive in our designated times.

  • Flight to New York: Participants can fly to New York City, receive a complimentary transfer during designated times from the airport to our hotel, or opt for assistance with flight arrangements. Alternatively, direct drop-off at our hotel is available.

  • Return Flight Home from New York: For designated return flights, we offer airport transfer, check-in assistance, and staff support at the airport until departure.

  • Staff provide airport check-in help and social introductions

  • Receive trip details in advance, and look for name sign upon arrival

  • Coordinate with program for connecting flight arrangements

Lesson Plan

Wall Street Program Overview:

Facilitated by instructors with decades of experience on Wall Street, 7-day program is the first or second week of the 2-week immersive program that equips high school students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a degree in business or finance. 

The 2-week program covers a comprehensive range of finance-related topics, including the global financial system, private equity, commercial banking, ethics, sustainable finance, fintech, and wealth management. Students engage in group projects, weekly competitions, and develop communication skills specific to the financial industry.

Competitions: Each week features a group project competition judged by industry experts.

  • Week 1 – Sustainable Business Development & Funding Competition: Students will be grouped into small teams and meet with NYIF mentors to create a "pitch" presentation to raise money from a Venture Capital Fund. Each team will:
    • Generate ideas for a sustainable business.
    • Formulate a business plan highlighting sustainable business practices.
    • Present to an expert panel to access funding needs for your business.
  • Week 2 – Fund Manager Competition: The second week involves a fund manager competition, where students act as equity analysts to develop a winning stock portfolio and present their recommendations. Each team will:
    • Pre-screen around 10 companies’ stocks.
    • Evaluate each company in detail.
    • Develop a portfolio of up to 3 stocks.
    • Present findings and recommendations as a portfolio pitch to NYIF experts and the group.

As part of this program’s curriculum, each week includes a session dedicated specifically to providing students with tips and insights that will help them reach their career goals.

Week 1: Jobs, Internships, & Recruitment Insights: Participate in a moderated panel discussion with an HR representative from a large organization, covering the following topics:

  • Skills required for 21st-century career climbers.
  • Hard and Soft Skills company recruiters seek
  • Top Interview Techniques
  • Group Exercise: Integrating Empathy, Collaboration, and Communication Skills
  • Personal Branding, LinkedIn, and Social Media Considerations

Week 2: Career Paths in Finance Industry: Led by NYIF instructors, this session’s lecture will cover the following topics:

  • An overview of all financial industry related professions
  • Skills and knowledge requirements for the main types of finance jobs
  • Academic preparation vs. experience buildup
  • Case study: Take a look at the several famous leader’s career paths starting as financial professionals

  • Jack brings extensive experience in portfolio risk management, trading, and financial analysis.

  • His career includes roles as a senior consultant at Accenture, a trader and chief strategist at Bank of America, and a quantitative finance educator at the University of Texas at Austin.

  • Since 1997, Jack has been a prominent consultant in New York, London, and Chicago, focusing on quantitative trading and training, and advising global investment funds.

Due to the nature of the changing schedules of our industry guest speakers, all speaker commitments are subject to change.

Extras

  • Pocket Money Advice: approximately $440 per 14 days (Lunches, snacks, personal spending money for souvenirs, laundry $10 per week etc.) Spending money should be by Credit or Debit card. Lunch costs vary by program type, length, and destination.

  • Transportation to and from the program

  • Program-specific spending advice provided in spring.

  • We also make available optional travel insurance that is not included, but highly recommended.

  • Medical Insurance: Travelers must have adequate medical insurance for the trip. Verify your policy covers international travel. Our insurance packages can cover deductibles, but we're not responsible for the uninsured.

Requirements

There are no prerequisites required to join! This introductory level program is for students of all levels interested in learning more about business and capital markets.

Prior to your arrival, you will be granted complimentary access to 2 on-demand lessons hosted on the NYIF learning portal. These two 2-hour lessons are not mandatory but highly recommended for students who are new to finance and want to enhance their summer learning experience.
