Course Description: Exceptional Summer Pre-College Engineering Program for Teenagers at Oxford University Campus

Best Engineering summer camp for 13, 14 and 15 years olds in Oxford.

You will gain a better understanding of the history and trends within engineering, as well as gaining practical insight into problem-solving through a series of practical tasks and logic puzzles. You will also explore the fundamentals of topics such as thermodynamics, materials, mechanics, and electrical engineering.

Throughout the Engineering summer school for 13-15-year-olds, you will learn the foundations of engineering, reside at a Oxford University College on your Engineering summer program, and develop new engineering skills as you work through a carefully constructed syllabus.

*This programme is designed for students with at least an upper-intermediate level of English (B2).

Learn directly from expert academics from world-class universities

You will explore novel concepts and share ideas in small groups of like-minded and ambitious peers from around the world. In small class sizes averaging 7 students, you will be guided by expert tutors who have honed their expertise through teaching undergraduate students at world-class universities, including the universities of Cambridge, Oxford, and Harvard.

Our rigorous vetting process guarantees that all participants are taught by engaging and supportive educators who are, most of all, enthusiastic about sharing their expertise to ensure our summer school teaching is of the highest quality. Immerse™ is an unrivalled academic experience.

Boost your confidence and develop key attributes in academic skills workshops

Our workshops are geared towards unlocking participants’ potential, giving them the tools to prepare for the next steps of their education and future goals. Build upon existing study skills to support future university-level learning.

These workshops explore a diverse and enriching range of topics – past examples have ranged from ‘Productivity tips’ to ’21st Century Technology Skills’. We’re sure that you’ll learn something completely new. Unlike traditional schools, Immerse allows you to learn beyond the traditional curriculum.

Example Modules

**Industrial Revolutions: **Trace the history of Engineering across four industrial revolutions, exploring the breakthroughs that were made and the impact that these developments had on future engineers. Based on this context, you will discuss what the future of engineering could look like.

**Telecommunication Engineering: **You will explore the mechanisms behind the components of telephones and radios. Learn how Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work, as well as AM and FM radio systems. Armed with the theoretical principles, you'll then be challenged to create your own radio receiver.

**Control and Automation engineering:**You will explore signals and systems before learning about proportional-integral-derivative control systems. Focus will then move to the ethics of AI with a "moral machine" simulation preceding a debate to test your research and oratory skills.

**Engineering a Solution: **You will be presented with a known problem and asked to work in pairs to create a solution based on the engineering principles that have been encountered. You will then present your idea and demonstrate a working prototype to your peers before facing questions.

Those who choose not to travel to London are invited to afternoon tea in Oxford.

Activities and excursions are run by our team of friendly mentors – whose main job is to maximise your enjoyment.
