Oxford University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, with a history of over 800 years. The summer program gives students insight into what it is like to study at university and allows them to make friends from around the world.
The Medicine course at Oxford College enables students with an interest in healthcare to develop their medical knowledge and English language ability. Students receive practical career advice for a future in medicine from experienced practitioners in the field. They also participate in a complete First Aid training course, gaining practical experience that is not often available to students at this age range. Additionally, the program enables students to consider the broader ethical context of medicine and to explore issues in contemporary public health. Students also participate in simulations to develop an ability to identify symptoms and diagnose patients.
The medicine course aims to prepare students for further study of medicine at the college level. By combining key academic skills and practical knowledge of medicine, first aid, and diagnosis, the program fosters critical thinking skills and independent learning in order to help students in their future careers and schooling.
