Kids are at Marymount, Parents are at Collingham in Family Program
A tiny, safe place, nestled on a quiet estate about 18 kilometers (11 miles) from central London, Marymount International School welcomes juniors to learn English at Discovery Summer.
This program is designed for families, visiting London. Parents can either study in Collingham or enjoy free time, while young learners study in Marymount.
A private coach, accompanied by our staff, collects children from Kensington each day.
This full day, non-residential, day courses program is tailored for juniors, ages from 8-13 year old. From beginner to upper-intermediate level.
In well equipped and modern classrooms, each group receive their own program. Through task based learning technics, participants learn by creating, making, collaborating and discussing. It's a fun way to learn new vocabulary and grammar while improving reading, writing, listening and most importantly, speaking skills.
Each week begins with a new project linked to the weekly museum visit and ends with project presentation. After the progress reviewed each week., the following week there will be a different themed project with new vocabulary.
When you finish the course, you'll receive an end-of-course report, Discovery Summer certificate and class photo.
For Juniors : 8 - 13 years | FULL DAY
Monday to Friday. Coach leaves drop-off point (near Gloucester Road station, Kensington, central London) promptly at 08:30h and returns by 18:00h
20 hours' tuition per week including English Skills, English Workshops and end-of-week presentation
English Workshops e.g. British Castle, Dream Cities, Marymount TV, Spies and Detectives
FabLab - Learn Lego Robotics, design/build your own Lego cars, create a video game using Scratch
Maximum class size: 12 international students
Full cooked lunch included
Students are put in an English Skills class that is suitable for their age and level after taking a written and spoken exam when they arrive.
Through exciting and interactive sessions, the classes improve fundamental skills, technical accuracy, and spoken fluency.
Workshops in English
English Workshops are engaging, task-based workshops in which students learn about new topics. They gain knowledge through conducting research, debating, cooperating, and producing.
The themes of the workshops change from week to week, including things like Robotics, British Castles, and Dream Cities.
Students have the choice of the workshops that interest them the most.
Afternoon activities, led in English, include sports, arts & crafts, drama
Wednesday afternoon excursion to e.g. Kensington Palace, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace
On Friday afternoons parents are invited to attend the end-of-week English Workshop presentations
**Weekly afternoon or evening family social event (at extra cost) **e.g. dine in a local restaurant, play games in the park, take a Thames river cruise, West End musical.
