Course Description
Each year, Studio Main school becomes a camp for teenagers, called Sir Michael. Sir Michael has been running here since 1968! Sir Michael has a capacity of up to 180 students at any one time. There is a wide range of nationalities and the ratio of staff to students here is high. The average number of students per class is 12 or 13 and the maximum class size is 16. Residential accommodation is in nearby student residences, within easy walking distance from the school, in single en-suite bedrooms
Location
Cambridge is one of the most famous, and most instantly recognized, city names in the world. It has been a centre of learning for 800 years and is the international symbol of academic excellence. But it is also fun! With 20,000 university students, virtually the only “business” of Cambridge is education and, despite its age, the whole city is designed for young people. It is the ideal place for the international English language students. Each year, Studio Main school becomes a camp for teenagers, called Sir Michael. Sir Michael has been running here since 1968! Accommodations
Sir Michael course residences:
- Central accommodation in comfortable and secure buildings
- Studio staff living on-campus, providing 24-hour supervision
- Single bedrooms
- Private en-suite bathroom and shower
- All meals included at school or the residences
- Free laundry facilities – you must do your own washing, but at no extra cost
- A change of bed linen once per week All residences are all located 5 or 10 minutes’ walk from the school and 10 to 20 minutes’ walk from the centre of Cambridge. Studio staff also live in the residences, providing 24-hour care. The staff-to-student ratio is high and they are never far away if you have any questions or need help. They will also organise activities for you every evening. All the residences have modern facilities, with showers and bathrooms. Students live in comfortable, fully furnished, single rooms. All bedrooms are singles with private, en-suite bathrooms. Meals: All meals are provided at school or at the accommodation. There is a wide choice of hot and cold food and a vegetarian option for every meal. Please inform us if you have special dietary requirements. At weekends packed lunches are provided. Pocket Money We recommend that students bring around £80 per week for souvenirs, gifts, snacks and drinks etc. At residential camps for younger students, we strongly recommend that money is given to the ‘Studio bank’, where we will keep it safe. Students will be able to obtain their money from the ‘Studio bank’ at regular intervals.
Excursions
Sir Michael includes one full-day excursion per week, on a Saturday.
Windsor
8 July 2023 Entrance into Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years. It is an official residence of His Majesty the King. Souvenir shopping time is included at the end of the day.
London
15 July 2023 Walking tour of some famous sights of the city with time to take photographs. The tour will include St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the London Eye, Big Ben & Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square and St James’ Park. In the afternoon students will have time for shopping on Oxford Street.
Warwick Castle
22 July 2023 An impressive mediaeval castle where students can experience 1,000 years of history. Attractions within the castle include jousting and falconry as well as the castle’s impressive interiors, gardens and the opportunity to climb the battlements.
London
29 July 2023 Students who have not already visited London on this course will walk past some famous sights of the city with time to take photographs. The tour will include St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the London Eye, Big Ben & Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square and St James’ Park. In the afternoon students will have time for shopping on Oxford Street. Students who have already visited London once on this course will visit the British Museum and Covent Garden.
Peterborough and Ely
05 August 2023 Students will visit Peterborough Cathedral, one of the finest Norman Cathedrals in Europe. After time for lunch and shopping in Queensgate Shopping Centre, students will go on to Ely where they will have a walking tour around the ancient city of Ely.
London
12 August 2023 Students who have not already visited London on this course will walk past some famous sights of the city with time to take photographs. The tour will include St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millennium Bridge, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, the London Eye, Big Ben & Horse Guards Parade, Trafalgar Square and St James’ Park. In the afternoon students will have time for shopping on Oxford Street. Students who have already visited London once on this course will visit the Science Museum, Hyde Park and have the chance to shop in South Kensington (including Harrods).

In the afternoon students will have time for shopping on Oxford Street. Students who have already visited London once on this course will visit the British Museum and Covent Garden. Students who have visited the above locations on this course will have a special excursion organised for them.
Transportation
Arrivals and departures for the camps are always on Sunday. You will be met at your airport of arrival on the first Sunday of your course by a Studio Cambridge representative. They will arrange your transportation to your accommodation by private coach or taxi. On the last Sunday of your course you will be taken back to the airport and helped to check-in. The cost of this service is included in the fees for transfers to or from **Heathrow **or Stansted airports on Sundays. Arrivals must be scheduled to land at the airport at 20:00 at the latest. For transfers to or from Gatwick or Luton airports on Sundays a supplement is charged.

This summer in the heart of Cambridge, in beautiful Victorian Buildings, Studio Cambridge presents Sir Michael English Summer Camp: Non-stop English learning experience for those who like to study English, practice it in after class activities, live in Cambridge and explore the UK. In other words, it is 24/7 English with your new friends.
You will get academic report from your teachers and certificate of studies at the end of your stay.

A choice of 20 lessons (15 hours) per week of English lessons, typically in the mornings, with additional sports and social activities during the afternoons. A total of 13 sessions of activities per week on the Mixed Activities program. Sir Michael English Summer program provides classes at a wide range of levels. Students are tested in advance and placed in the right class to meet their learning needs. In addition, we also provide weekly progress testing so we can move students up levels as their English improves. Our teaching concentrates on improving vocabulary and speaking skills.These encourage confidence, collaboration and, of course, communication.
