Course Description

Your Oxford Summer School experience will take place in historic residential colleges where you will get a taste of what it's like to be a student at Oxford. Sleep in historic quadrangles, mingle in bustling student common areas, and unwind in beautiful campus gardens. Take a seat in the lofty hallways where students have dined for over 800 years. Learn in lecture halls and labs where revolutionary discoveries were created, and in classrooms where 55 Nobel Laureates gained fundamental academic and life skills essential for future success.

An introduction to numerous distinct aspects of current mathematics can help you improve your mathematical ability and ignite your interest in numbers. In arithmetic, geometry, graph theory, logic, computer science, and game theory, you will come across significant and fascinating concepts.

The following are some of the things you will learn in the Oxford Summer Mathematics Course:

  • Solving riddles and critical thinking challenges, sketching tessellations and fractals, playing strategic mathematical games, and even creating a rudimentary computer will all help you enhance your skills.
  • As you observe how mathematics is visible in art, music, and nature throughout the course, you will organically develop your visual thinking, curiosity, and confidence in the field.
  • As you connect with outstanding academics and world-class tutors while living and learning at the University of Oxford, you will be able to take your abilities to the next level.

We know you'll want to tell your family, friends, and instructors about your fantastic summer of exploration when you go home. We also recognize that you'll want to learn from your ORA teacher not just what you did exceptionally well on your course, but also where you may improve and learn more in the future.

You'll get a graduation certificate after successfully completing your course, which will be presented to you and your parents at a special ceremony on the last Friday of summer school. We'll also provide you a full report card that details all you've accomplished throughout your time with us, as well as some recommendations for future success.
