Programme hours: 25 hours per week

English level: A2–C2

Student profile: Individual students, siblings and friends. We do not accept large school groups

Course Description

The English Summer Programme with Professional Karting is a distinctive residential summer school experience for teenagers aged 12–17 who want to improve their English, make international friends, and take part in an exciting professional karting programme.

Students study English in the morning and join Karting School in the afternoon. This gives them the best of both worlds: a serious, confidence-building English language programme and a high-energy motorsports experience led by a former karting champion at a professional race track.

The programme takes place at Moor Park, a beautiful 20-hectare boarding school campus in the English countryside, just five minutes from the historic town of Ludlow. We are a small, owner-managed summer school with a highly personalised approach, a 1:4 staff-to-student ratio, and a warm international community of British and overseas teenagers.

This is not a large group travel programme. Students join as individuals, siblings or friends, helping them integrate quickly, speak English naturally, and build real friendships with teenagers from different countries.

Who Is This Programme For?

This programme is ideal for students who:

  • Want to improve their English in a friendly, international environment

  • Enjoy active, practical learning rather than a purely classroom-based summer

  • Are excited by motorsport, karting, driving skills and race-track experience

  • Want a structured but personal summer school in a campus environment

  • Would benefit from mixing with British and international teenagers

  • Prefer a smaller, more personal alternative to a large commercial summer camp

Students should have an English level of A2–C2 so they can take part fully in lessons, activities, social time and the wider English-speaking environment.

Programme Highlights

Professional Karting Experience

Students take part in 10 hours per week of Karting School, learning at a professional kart track with guidance from a former karting champion.

15 Hours of English or Advanced English

Students study English Language or Advanced English in the morning, developing fluency, confidence, communication skills and academic language.

Oxford Online Placement Test

Before arrival, students complete the Oxford Online Placement Test so they can be placed in the most suitable class for their level.

Small English Classes

English classes have a maximum of 11 students, giving each learner more opportunity to speak, receive feedback and grow in confidence.

A Truly International Community

Students join as individuals, siblings or friends. We do not accept large school groups, which supports faster integration and deeper international friendships.

British Teenagers on Campus

British students also join the programme, especially through Sports Academies and selected activities, creating more natural opportunities to use English socially.

Small, Personal and Highly Supervised

With a 1:4 staff-to-student ratio, students receive 24/7 care and supervision, encouragement and individual support throughout their stay.

Beautiful Countryside Campus

Moor Park is set within 20 hectares of beautiful English parkland, where sweeping lawns, mature trees, roaming deer and views towards Mortimer Forest create an exceptional sense of space, calm and natural beauty. The historic town of Ludlow is just five minutes away.

Academic Programme: English Language or Advanced English

Students take part in 15 hours of morning lessons per week. Their Oxford Online Placement Test result determines whether they join English Language or Advanced English. Classes are then organised according to English level, age and first language, with a maximum of 11 students per class, allowing teachers to give individual feedback and adapt lessons to the needs of the group.

English Language

English Language is designed for students from A2 to B1 who want to become more confident, fluent and natural communicators.

Lessons focus on:

  • Speaking with more confidence

  • Building vocabulary and accuracy

  • Listening and responding in real conversations

  • Taking part in discussions and presentations

  • Using English in practical, social and academic situations

The aim is not simply to “study English”, but to help students use English more confidently throughout the whole summer school experience.

Advanced English

Advanced English is designed for students currently working at B2–C2 level who want to build the fluency, academic skills and flexibility they will need for future study, university and the world of work. Through discussion, presentations and critical thinking tasks, students learn to express ideas with greater clarity, precision and independence.

Students may work on:

  • Critical thinking

  • Discussion and debate

  • Presentation skills

  • Extended speaking

  • Academic vocabulary

  • More developed written responses

  • Expressing and defending original viewpoints

This option is ideal for students who already use English confidently and want to explore ideas, develop academic skills and communicate with greater depth and precision, ready for university and beyond.

Karting School

Karting School is the specialist afternoon element of this programme. Students spend 10 hours per week developing their skills in a safe, structured and exciting motorsports environment.

The programme is led by a former karting champion and takes place at a professional race track. Students learn much more than simply how to drive fast. They develop focus, discipline, decision-making, confidence and respect for safety.

Karting School includes:

  • Race-track safety and briefing

  • Kart control and driving technique

  • Braking, cornering and racing lines

  • Overtaking awareness and track positioning

  • Timed practice and performance improvement

  • Personal feedback from instructors

  • Confidence-building through progressive challenges

Also included is one session of quad bike training and riding in the forest, giving students another exciting motorsports challenge in a spectacular outdoor setting.

Students do not need to be expert drivers, but they should be excited by the idea of karting and ready to take part in an active, focused training environment.

Student Experience & Learning Outcomes

This programme combines language learning, personal development and practical challenge.

In the morning, students develop their English through lessons that encourage participation, discussion and communication. In the afternoon, students experience the excitement of Karting School, developing focus, confidence and safety awareness through professional instruction and time on the track. During the Social Programme, Excursions and House Time, they continue using English naturally with both staff and students from different countries.

The learning experience is designed to help students become:

  • More fluent, confident and competent in English

  • More confident in new situations

  • More independent

  • More socially connected

  • More willing to try new challenges

  • More comfortable using English beyond the classroom

Our 20 hectares of landscaped grounds create an exceptional natural environment where students feel energised, relaxed and ready to connect with each other.

• Grass football pitches

• Golf course

Accommodation

Students live on campus in the Grande Residence, the historic heart of Moor Park. This is one of the most distinctive parts of the experience: rather than being spread across several separate residences, students live together in one beautiful historic building, helping the community come together quickly and naturally.

Accommodation features:

Individually designed, spacious shared rooms

3–6 students per room, carefully matched by age, nationality and what we know about each student

Girls and boys on separate floors, with separate staircases

Social spaces for relaxing and spending time together

Dedicated House Parents and residential staff always present

1:4 staff-to-student ratio, supporting highly personalised care

Weekly laundry service

Beautiful views across parkland, mature trees and towards Mortimer Forest

The Grande Residence offers a setting that is both historic and deeply connected to nature. From the windows, students look out over beautiful parkland, roaming deer, magnificent mature trees and views towards Mortimer Forest. It is a rare combination of character, beauty and community, and very different from the more standard residential blocks found at many summer schools.

Shared accommodation is part of the design of the experience at Moor Park. We think carefully about who shares with whom so that teenagers feel comfortable, included and ready to make friends from the beginning. Living alongside students from other countries helps friendships form quickly and gives teenagers a real sense of belonging within a warm international summer community.

Our House Parents play a central role in this experience, leading on students’ safety, wellbeing and happiness throughout their stay. With a 1:4 staff-to-student ratio, we provide the highly personalised care that helps every student feel known, safe and included as an individual.

Meals and Dining

All meals are included, including meals during excursions.

Dining highlights:

Locally sourced, globally inspired: a varied menu featuring British and international dishes

Fresh and healthy: meals are freshly prepared on campus by an experienced professional catering team

Four meals daily: breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper

Nutritious snacks: served during morning and afternoon breaks

Balanced options: a delicious salad bar and plenty of fresh fruit to fuel active days

Inclusive dining: support for a wide range of dietary requirements, including allergies, vegetarian, vegan and halal meals

Meals bring quality, variety and care to every day of the programme, giving students the energy they need to enjoy a full summer school day.

Mealtimes are also an important part of the community experience. Staff sit with students to encourage conversation, help everyone feel included and create natural opportunities to use English. Outdoor barbecues, traditional English tea on the lawn and other special food events are memorable parts of the summer school experience.

Families should share full dietary details before arrival so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
