Teens will canyon, kayak, surf, and explore colorful seaside towns—experiencing both big-city excitement and quiet local gems. With a smaller travel group, this program allows for deeper connection, flexible exploration, and warm guidance from experienced leaders. Along the way, teens discover Portugal’s incredible landscapes, delicious food, and rich traditions, building lifelong friendships through unforgettable shared moments.

Some departures include students joining for the final 12 days of the longer 28-day Spain & Portugal program.

Itinerary �*

Day 1 — Flight to Porto, Portugal

Fly overnight to Porto and begin orientation with group icebreakers and introductory activities.

Days 2–4 — Porto, Portugal

Explore Porto’s riverside charm, defined by colorful buildings and Baroque architecture along the Douro. Take on a full-day waterfall canyoning adventure in Peneda Geres National Park, and enjoy a city tour of Porto’s top sights before a beautiful Douro River sunset cruise.

Days 5–7 — Lagos (Algarve), Portugal

Travel to Lagos, a classic beach town wrapped in cobblestone lanes, open plazas, and golden beaches. Kayak along dramatic cliffs and sea caves, explore hidden coves, and enjoy time in its lively town center. Evenings bring fun group outings, including karaoke and nights out in Lagos.

Days 8–11 — Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon’s hillside neighborhoods and river views welcome you for the final portion of your adventure. Bike through tree-lined paths and waterfront areas, surf the Atlantic at Costa da Caparica, and wander the fairytale palaces of Sintra. Enjoy an evening in stylish Cascais before wrapping up your journey in Portugal’s vibrant capital.

Day 12 — Return Flight Home

Depart from Lisbon and fly home with new friendships and unforgettable memories of Portugal.

Flight times are coordinated for arrival within designated windows, and leaders greet participants at the airport upon arrival.

Return Flight from Lisbon, Portugal

A chaperoned flight to New York is available. Travelers outside the New York area may arrange separate connections or fly directly home from Lisbon. Leaders assist with check-in and remain until flights in designated times have departed.

Breakfasts are buffet-style at hotels. Dinners may be enjoyed as a full group or in smaller self-selected groups. Lunches are eaten in small groups, choosing from cafés, bistros, and local eateries.
