Discover the thrill, beauty, and culture of Costa Rica with a small, tight-knit group of fellow adventurers 🌿🌊. From whitewater rafting on the Pacuare River to ziplining through the Monteverde Cloud Forest and surfing at Tamarindo Beach, this program delivers non-stop excitement in one of the world’s most biodiverse destinations.

Led by outstanding program leaders and guided by local experts, teens return home with unforgettable memories—and a true appreciation for Costa Rica’s “Pura Vida” lifestyle.

This itinerary is sometimes the first 14 days of the longer 20-day Costa Rica Adventure program.

Itinerary

Days 1–2 — Central Valley, Costa Rica

Arrive in San José and kick off your adventure with fun icebreakers and orientation activities.

Start the trip strong with an exciting whitewater rafting experience to set the tone for the journey ahead.

Days 3–4 — Rincón de la Vieja, Costa Rica

Explore one of Costa Rica’s most active volcanic regions:

• Horseback ride through the national park

• Hike near the volcano crater

• Relax in natural volcanic mud baths

• Spend downtime at the eco-resort pool

Days 5–7 — Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica

Sun, surf, and ocean adventures await:

• Surf lessons at world-famous Tamarindo Beach

• Snorkel near Las Catalinas Islands

• Evening bonfire and karaoke

• Relax and enjoy the beautiful Pacific coastline

Days 8–9 — Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Experience one of Costa Rica’s most iconic regions:

• Waterfall rappelling & canyoning adventure

• Relax at Baldi Hot Springs with 25 thermal pools

Days 10–12 — Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica

A highlight of the entire trip:

• Zip-line through lush cloud forest canopies

• Hike the Reserve while spotting unique wildlife

• Try a hands-on Tico cooking class

Days 13–14 — Central Valley, Costa Rica

Conclude your adventure with:

• Coffee experience at Café Doka to learn how beans are grown and produced

• A night of Latin dancing with friends

• Farewell before flying home from San José ✈️

A departure is available for students completing 7th or 8th grade.

Program Specifics

Flight to Costa Rica

A chaperoned flight is offered from South Florida, with possible New York departures depending on enrollment.

Students from other regions may connect to the chaperoned flight or arrive independently within designated flight windows.

Return Flight Home

A chaperoned return flight is also offered (South Florida, New York, or both depending on group composition).

Leaders assist with check-in and remain until flights have departed.

Meals & New Cuisines

Teens enjoy a delicious mix of local cuisine—rice, beans, meats, fresh fruit—plus familiar favorites.

Emphasis is placed on trying new flavors with an open mind.

Drinking Water

Purified water is provided throughout the program for refilling bottles.

Vaccinations

Families should follow CDC and physician recommendations. Detailed guidance is provided in March.

Weekly laundry drop-off at a local wash-and-fold service.
