Key Learning Areas *

Principles of Design and Innovation

Discover how engineers turn ideas into practical solutions. Study the journey from concept to prototype, learning how research, testing, and iteration lead to innovation. Examine famous engineering breakthroughs and explore how creativity and precision fuel technological progress.

Mechanics and Structural Engineering

Explore how motion, force, and balance define every structure we build. Study Newtonian mechanics, stress, and equilibrium while applying these principles to bridges, vehicles, and machines. Develop problem-solving and quantitative reasoning skills that prepare you for advanced study in physics or engineering.

Electrical and Electronic Systems

Learn how electrical and electronic systems power modern technology. Study current, voltage, and circuits, and see how sensors, controllers, and automation systems are designed. Through practical demonstrations, understand how energy and control systems interact to create everything from smartphones to smart cities.

Materials Science and Sustainability

Investigate how material choices affect design, performance, and the environment. Study metals, polymers, and composites, and see how nanotechnology and recycling innovations are changing construction, transport, and renewable energy. Build research and evaluation skills while exploring sustainable engineering practices.

***

The Personal Project *

Every student completes an independent project that applies engineering principles to a real-world challenge — for example, designing a sustainable bridge, building an energy-efficient model, or proposing a new electronic device. Guided by tutors, you’ll research, create, and present your design, showcasing creativity, critical thinking, and technical understanding.

***

Tutors & Mentors 👩‍*

Courses are led by experienced academic instructors who bring both expertise and enthusiasm to each lesson. Alongside them, undergraduate mentors provide support, guidance, and wellbeing care, helping students build confidence and adapt to university life.

***

Beyond the Classroom *

Outside of academic sessions, students enjoy a full social and cultural programme that blends fun with learning:

🏙 Cultural excursions – Visit London’s engineering landmarks, museums, and galleries.

🌆 Evening events – Take part in quiz nights, formal dinners, and sports.

🤝 Global friendships – Connect with peers from around the world in a supportive community.

These shared experiences help students develop independence, teamwork, and global awareness — the perfect complement to their academic growth.

***

Accommodation & Support *

Participants stay in secure, fully supervised university accommodation near campus. Rooms are single or twin with shared bathrooms, and include Wi-Fi, lounge spaces, and meals. Round-the-clock pastoral support ensures comfort and safety throughout the stay.
