The Young Professionals: Medicine programme is a highly academic, career-focused introduction to medical study, designed for motivated secondary-school students who are considering a future in medicine or healthcare. Delivered in central London, the programme combines theoretical medical science, hands-on clinical workshops, and medical ethics, while also strengthening students’ academic English in a professional healthcare context.
Students gain an authentic insight into what it means to study and practise medicine, learning directly from qualified doctors and senior medical students. Through structured teaching, clinical simulations, dissections, and case-based learning, students move well beyond textbook science and begin to think, analyse, and communicate like future medical professionals 🌍.
***
This programme mirrors early medical-school training in an age-appropriate but academically rigorous way. Each body system is introduced through core theory, followed by patient history-taking, diagnostic reasoning, and practical clinical application.
Students are challenged to apply multidisciplinary thinking — combining biology, ethics, communication, and problem-solving — while working in small groups that encourage discussion, collaboration, and confidence. Alongside academic study, students also take part in cultural excursions across the UK, forming international friendships and broadening their global perspective.
***
This programme is ideal for students aged 13–17 who:
Are seriously considering a future in medicine or healthcare
Have a strong interest in biology, science, and human health
Want early exposure to clinical practice and medical thinking
Would benefit from a structured, professional academic environment
A minimum B1 (Intermediate) level of English is required to ensure students can fully engage with clinical discussions and academic content.
***
By the end of the programme, students will have:
Developed a strong foundation in human anatomy and physiology
Gained practical experience in clinical assessment, diagnostics, and simulation
Learned how to analyse patient cases and develop treatment approaches
Explored the ethical and professional responsibilities of medical practice
Strengthened teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
Built a portfolio of medical case studies, practical skills, and reflective learning
Students also gain valuable insight into the realities of medical training, helping them make informed decisions about future academic pathways.
***
Teaching is immersive, structured, and clinically focused. Learning methods include:
Lectures and seminars delivered by medical professionals
Patient history-taking and case-based learning
Clinical simulations and diagnostic workshops
Practical dissections of major organ systems
Small-group collaboration and discussion 🤝
Reflective learning and portfolio development
Students are continuously encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and apply theory to realistic medical scenarios.
***
Students study respiratory anatomy and physiology, explore case-based scenarios, perform pulmonary assessments, and participate in lung dissection to understand disease and function in practice.
This module covers heart anatomy and circulation, introduces ECG fundamentals, and uses case simulations alongside heart dissection to explore cardiovascular conditions and diagnostics.
Students explore neurology through clinical assessments, imaging interpretation, and brain dissection, developing an understanding of how neurological disorders are identified and managed.
This module examines renal anatomy and function, diagnostic testing, and kidney dissection, focusing on fluid balance and systemic health.
Students study gastrointestinal anatomy and pathology, including liver function, supported by hands-on liver dissection and case analysis.
A critical component of the programme, this module explores consent, confidentiality, professionalism, and end-of-life care. Students examine ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare professionals and learn how ethical frameworks guide clinical decision-making.
***
In addition to system-based study, students take part in advanced clinical workshops, including:
Students conduct emergency A–E patient assessments using advanced medical simulation technology (Sim Man), practising clinical decision-making under realistic conditions.
Students develop hands-on surgical skills, including suturing, aseptic technique, and laparoscopic dexterity tasks — gaining early exposure to operative practice in a controlled, educational environment.
***
