Our New York Residential Summer Center is located on the safe, attractive campus of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in the neighborhood of Riverdale. Riverdale is green and prosperous yet is just 30 minutes by train from Grand Central Station and the excitement and bustle of New York City. JFK, La Guardia and Newark airports are all less than 1 hour by coach or taxi.

Students benefit from a full weekly activity program, mostly on campus. Typical activities include: American football, arts and crafts, basketball, baseball, bingo, casino night, dance, disco, dodgeball, fashion show, games night, karaoke, mini-Olympics, movie night, quiz nights, soccer, table tennis, talent show and volleyball.


Typical attractions include:

  • The Statue of Liberty
  • Central Park
  • Times Square
  • Empire State Building
  • Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Greenwich Village and SOHO
  • Museum of Natural History
  • Brooklyn Bridge and Ground Zero
  • Six Flags Great Adventure An overnight stay in Boston can be added to your program at the beginning or end (subject to minimum numbers).


Students will be met at the airport by a Kings guide or Kings representative. Students should look for a sign which says Kings New York Summer Center.

Please note that the Kings guide or Kings representative may not be at the arrivals area until 45 minutes after the flight arrival time.

If a student cannot find the Kings guide or Kings representative, the student should go to the Airport Information Desk and show the staff a copy of their Transfer Confirmation Letter. In this situation, it is important not to panic and remain within the terminal building. Airports are big and busy, but Kings has been collecting students for many years. We will look after them!

We advise all students to travel with the following documents:

  • Passport(with Visa if required)

  • Letter of Consent to Travel(to be completed by parents)

  • Booking confirmation letter

  • Transfer confirmation letter

If a student is arriving to or departing from the campus with a parent/guardian, we do require information on their arrival time and/or pick up time from campus in advance.

Kings will provide you with a document to complete prior to your arrival date. Students are not permitted to travel on their own to or from the campus.

Please note for arrivals the drop off time to centre is between 3pm – 6pm.

Please note for departures the pick up time from centre is between 9am – 11am.

English lessons

Your child will be tested on arrival and placed in the right class for their age and English ability. We offer 6 levels, from Beginner to Advanced. Learning is through engaging and fun activities including projects, games, and group work. These encourage confidence, collaboration and, of course, communication. The syllabus includes:

  • Language input and language practice
  • US culture lessons
  • Excursion preparation/ follow-up lessons
  • Online safety classes
  • Project lessons There is also a weekly review of materials studied.
