Programme Overview *

The English language summer programme is designed to help students develop their communication skills through a combination of structured classroom learning and cultural immersion.

Students study 20 hours of English per week, placed into ability groups from Elementary to Advanced following an initial placement test.

Lessons focus on developing the four key language skills:

  • Speaking

  • Listening

  • Reading

  • Writing

These are supported by work on vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and practical communication skills used in everyday situations.

Teaching follows a communicative approach that encourages students to actively participate in class through:

  • Pair and group work

  • Interactive tasks

  • Project-based learning

  • Presentations and discussions

This dynamic classroom environment helps students build confidence quickly and use English naturally.

Alongside lessons, a daily activity programme allows students to explore Sheffield while practising English in real-life situations and forming friendships with classmates from around the world.
