Bring cybersecurity to life with hands-on Java projects. Over two weeks, learners explore core defensive concepts—encryption, hashing, session management, CAPTCHA, DDoS awareness, QR code safety—and build simple, secure-by-design apps. Live mentor support keeps every session practical, safe, and confidence-building.
Format Live online (mentor-led)
Duration 2 weeks (Module 1)
Stack Java, REST concepts, hashing (SHA-256), encoding/decoding, sessions, basic CAPTCHA, QR code safety
Projects Weekly mini-projects + end-of-module “Secure System” showcase
Outcomes Certificate, personalised mentor evaluation, rating, eligibility for Level 2 – Cyber Specialist
Session management: good practices to keep accounts protected
Encryption & decryption: how cryptography protects privacy
Hashing (SHA-256): integrity checks and secure password storage patterns
Encoding/decoding: safe data transport fundamentals
Human vs bot: simple CAPTCHA concepts to reduce automated abuse
DDoS awareness: what high-load attacks look like and resilience principles
Secure QR codes: using QR as a safe carrier for encrypted/auth data
(All topics are taught with an ethics-first, defensive lens. No offensive tooling or unsafe tactics.)
Week 1 — The Art of Defense
Intro to cybersecurity & ethical practice • Java crypto basics (high level) • Mentor-led mini-projects:
Secret Message Encryptor — build a basic encrypt/decrypt tool (concept demo)
Password Protector — hash & verify with SHA-256
Encoded Messenger — send/receive safely encoded messages
Week 2 — Building a Safer Digital World
Session control patterns • CAPTCHA basics • Resilience thinking (DDoS awareness) • Mini-projects:
Secure Login System — sessions + hashed passwords
CAPTCHA Shield — simple bot-resistant check
Safe QR Generator — QR with encrypted payloads
DDoS Defense Simulation (conceptual) — visualise system behaviour under load
Present a Secure System that combines at least two defenses (e.g., login + hashing + CAPTCHA). Learners explain design choices, data flow, and protections.
Certificate of Completion: Cyber Defender (Module 1)
Personalised Mentor Evaluation & Security Readiness Report
Rating & eligibility for Level 2 — Cyber Specialist (Advanced Java Security & Ethical Practice)
1:1 guidance on every mini-project
Daily check-ins and challenge reviews
Live debugging help and clear explanations of the “why” behind each rule
Curated challenges that build curiosity, ethics, and confidence
Platform & access • Live session times & time zone • Max class size & participation norms • Tech requirements (Java, IDE, stable internet, webcam/mic) • Accessibility (captions/recordings) • Safeguarding/code of conduct • Refund/cancellation policy
