Ages 12–16 | Headington
The Future Entrepreneur Programme is a two-week, hands-on introduction to entrepreneurship and business thinking for students aged 12–16. Designed for ambitious, creative learners, the programme explores how ideas become viable businesses and how entrepreneurship can be used to solve real-world challenges.
Students are introduced to key business disciplines including entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, and strategy. Through workshops, simulations, and collaborative projects, they develop the confidence, creativity, and communication skills needed to think like future founders and business leaders in a rapidly evolving global economy.
***
Students receive 15 hours of subject-specific academic instruction per week, delivered through interactive, hands-on lessons led by experienced tutors. Teaching is discussion-based and practical, encouraging students to:
Think strategically and creatively
Analyse problems and identify opportunities
Make decisions with limited information
Communicate ideas clearly and persuasively
A minimum English level of B1+ is recommended to support teamwork, presentations, and business discussions.
***
Students explore how businesses begin and grow, focusing on:
Recognising opportunities and defining problems
Turning ideas into workable products or services
Understanding value, innovation, and impact
Exploring the first steps of launching a venture
Activities guide students from idea generation to early-stage planning.
***
This module introduces how businesses operate in real markets. Students examine:
Customer needs and market demand
Pricing, resources, and basic financial decision-making
Market trends and competition
Risk and decision-making under uncertainty
Case studies and simulations allow students to practise strategic thinking in realistic business scenarios.
***
Clear communication is central to entrepreneurship. Students develop:
Public speaking and presentation skills
Persuasive storytelling for business pitches
Confidence explaining ideas concisely
Teamwork and leadership skills
This module prepares students to present ideas clearly, confidently, and with authority.
***
A central feature of the programme, The Big Solutions Challenge invites students to tackle some of the world’s most pressing issues, including:
Climate change
Global health
Inequality and access to education
The role of technology in society
Working in teams, students design start-up ideas that address real global problems. Ideas are tested, refined, and developed throughout the programme, culminating in a final showcase of pitches, prototypes, and presentations.
***
Students follow a structured entrepreneurial framework that mirrors real start-up development:
Define a challenge
Design a solution
Create a prototype or visual concept
Develop a value proposition
Deliver a persuasive pitch
Key business vocabulary is embedded throughout the programme, including prototype, pitch, brand, customer, market, innovation, investment, value, and impact.
***
Every student participates in Time to Shine, a structured public-speaking and pitching experience.
Week One – Clean Resources Innovation Students develop a business idea focused on improving access to clean water, renewable energy, or waste reduction. Teams create a prototype or visual design and deliver a short pitch explaining their solution and its global impact.
Week Two – Communication and Education Ventures Students design a start-up focused on education, communication, or peacebuilding, such as digital platforms, low-cost learning tools, or community services. Projects emphasise social impact alongside commercial thinking.
The programme culminates in a live pitch event where students present as founders seeking investment.
***
Students take ideas beyond the classroom by:
Running surveys and gathering peer feedback
Testing branding and messaging in shared spaces
Presenting prototypes to small audiences
Refining ideas based on real-world responses
This process highlights the importance of customer engagement and iterative improvement.
***
No prior business knowledge is required. The programme is designed to be challenging yet accessible. The main challenge lies in explaining the value of an idea clearly and persuasively within a short time frame. Tutors provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout.
***
This programme is ideal for students who:
Are curious about business, innovation, and leadership
Enjoy creative problem-solving and teamwork
Want to build confidence in public speaking
