Prestigious Pre-College Medical Summer Program for Teens in Oxford includes the following:

-Learn what being a doctor actually involves as well as the skills and personal attributes which are required

-The program content includes exploring natural sciences within the context of medical-related degrees and professions, development of critical thinking, presentation and debating skills through discussion of current social and ethical issues in medicine, medical-related visits and guest lectures, including a session with a medical school admissions tutor and a visit to a university Medical School, research in to the application process and requirements for degrees in a range of medical fields, medical interview preparation and practice, understanding the differences between Panel and Multiple Mini Interviews, what should and should not be included in a personal statement, and preparation for aptitude tests, UCAT and BMAT

-Accommodation is provided in single ensuite rooms in the Wavy gate Residence, with on-site kitchen and laundry facilities, plus a full time live

Activities

  • A full social program of organized evening activities.
  • Participants of the program could benefit various clubs and society in campus such as Photography society , Chemistry Club, Chess Club, Maths Club, Book Club, Football and Basketball Club, History Film Club, Debating Club.

Accommodations

  • Wavy Gate is located 25 minutes’ walk away from the centre or a short bus ride.

  • All rooms are single en-suite study bedrooms with shared kitchen/sitting room facilities.

  • All flats and rooms have their own lock. Students will be provided with a key/ fob. Please note, lost room keys can be charged.

  • Staff accommodated in the residence, the residence supervised 24/7 and has overnight security.

  • Within this residence you have to pay and do your own laundry.

  • Supervision is guaranteed by an on-site warden.

  • Hot/cold breakfast, cooked lunch and cold dinner are provided every day. (total of 20 meals per week)

  • The on-site canteen is open 08.00 to 15.00, should students wish to purchase additional food/drinks.

  • Please note that students aged under 16 must return to their host residence by 21.30 every evening.

  • Students aged 16 – 17 must return to their residence by 22.30 every evening.

Excursions

  • Oxford Medical Summer Academy Program offers one full-day excursion per week, plus a half-day educational visit.

Transportation

  • Students will be met at London Heathrow Airport by a guide or representative.

  • The guide may arrive up to 45 minutes after flight arrival.

  • If the guide is not found, students should visit the Airport Information Desk with their Transfer Confirmation Letter and remain calm inside the terminal. At Heathrow students should look for a Passenger Ambassador (people wearing purple jackets).

  • Students advised to carry: Passport (Visa if needed), Letter of Consent to Travel, Booking confirmation letter, Transfer confirmation letter.

  • In case of flight delays or emergencies, call +44 7421 420 020.

  • Students with parents/guardians must provide arrival/pick-up times in advance.

  • We will issue a document for completion before arrival; unaccompanied travel to/from campus is not allowed.

  • Arrival drop-off at the center: 3pm – 6pm

  • Departure pick-up: 9am – 10am.

  • Residential refundable deposit (payable upon arrival): £50. This can be paid in either Sterling (£50) or Euros (€50).

  • Pocket Money Advice: £50 per week pocket money is recommended for treats and gifts. This is a suggested amount, every student is different.

Security

  • Welfare Officers present in each center for student support, guidance, and advice.

  • Each individual student assigned a 'guardian' upon arrival.

  • Daily meetings with guardians for program updates and addressing any issues.

  • Mandatory for parents or guardians to complete emergency contact details for enrolled students.

  • Requirement to provide a 24/7 reachable telephone number for a parent, guardian, or agent.

Requirements

  • Minimum entry level: IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent)

  • 90% attendance = CERTIFICATE

  • Less than 90% = NO CERTIFICATE
