This summer English camp in Manhattan brings together international teenagers aged 14–17 at Barnard College, Columbia University. Students take 20 English lessons of 45 minutes each morning, then spend afternoons, evenings and weekends exploring New York City. Students can stay from one to four weeks.
Lessons are organised across four class levels, with an average class size of 14. Teachers hold a bachelor's and/or master's degree.
New for 2027, Global Pathways is a project-driven English course that develops leadership, academic and career skills. Students work on projects, presentations and debates that combine all four language skills, and collaborate with classmates from many countries.
At the end of the programme every student receives a certificate and transcript.
Classes are held at Columbia University and Barnard College on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Central Park is within walking distance and Midtown is about 15 minutes away, putting the city's museums, theatres and landmarks within easy reach. An NYC MetroCard is included for travel around the city.
Students live in Barnard College residences in traditional or suite-style rooms, typically shared rooms with shared bathrooms. Full board is included, with lunch and dinner served around the daily programme. Free Wi-Fi is available, and laundry can be used for a fee.
Day (commuter) students attend classes and activities and travel to campus each morning.
Each week includes five half-day excursions and one full-day excursion. A sample two weeks includes:
Iconic New York: Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange, United Nations Headquarters tour, Rockefeller Center and Top of the Rock.
