What's Included

Full Board - Residential Students:

  • Includes: all meals, lodging, excursions, academic course, and evening activities, application fee $99

  • Excludes: optional airport pickup and drop off service (available for an additional fee)

Day Course - Commuter Students:

  • Includes: lunch, academic course, excursions, programming from 9am to 6pm on Monday-Thursday and 9am to 2:30pm on Friday, application fee $99

  • Excludes: lodging, breakfast, dinner, and evening activities

  • Berkeley Arts & Culture: Dive into the arts and culture scene with UC Berkeley's vibrant community offerings, including parks, stages, and renowned restaurants.
  • California's Great America: A 100-acre amusement park with famous attractions, including the celebrated Gold Striker roller coaster.
  • San Francisco Scavenger Hunt: Discover San Francisco's famous landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman's Wharf through an interactive scavenger hunt.
  • Educational Outings: Participate in academic-specific excursions to leading Bay Area companies and institutions to enrich your study experience.

Transportation

  • Group airport transfers: $95 each way.

  • Transfers outside of the official group pick-up and drop-off time window: $195 each way

  • Unaccompanied minor transportation: $145 total each way

Arrivals During Flight Window:

  • Greeted by campus staff.

  • Stay at the airport with staff until the flight window closes and all students have arrived.

  • Transported to campus after the flight window ends.

  • No immediate meeting by staff; must wait for the official arrival window.

  • For late arrivals(within reason), for those that pay a transfer fee will be met at the airport.

General Departure Information:

  • Students who opt for departure transfer (with a $95 fee) will arrive at the airport at maximum 10:00am.

  • Suitable for flights departing at 12:00pm or later.

  • With additional fee, there might be service for flights departing before 12:00pm.

Lesson Plan

  • Learn core coding skills and apply key concepts: variables, arrays, conditionals, loops, functions.
  • Courses led by subject-expert faculty from colleges, universities, and professional forums.
  • Program Overview:
    • Identify computer similarities across devices.
    • Use p5js for accessible coding experiences.
    • Debug code and articulate algorithmic decisions.
    • Practice cooperative coding for team problem-solving.
  • Course Schedule:
    • Five 3-hour classes, 9am-12pm, Monday to Friday.
    • Additional activities and guest speakers on Wednesday afternoons.
    • Separate, structured programs for grades 6-8, with dedicated staff and accommodations.

Criteria for Admission:

  • Vaccination Requirements: May be necessary for in-person programs, depending on university policies.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • Completion of 6th grade by the program start date.
    • Minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent).
  • Decisions are emailed within 7 to 10 business days after application review.

  • Travis Taylor - Coding Educator:
    • 10 years of programming experience as a Data Scientist
    • 5 years of teaching experience at Northwestern University and Design Students League.
    • Served as a subject matter expert and content developer to create curriculum for data and software engineering bootcamps.
    • Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
